Brew Ha Ha! Espresso Bar Opens in Center City Philadelphia, PA. – November 27 – Brew Ha Ha!, a locally-owned coffee retailer, announces the grand opening of its first Philadelphia espresso bar in the former Millennium Coffee space at 212 S. 12th street, between Locust and Walnut streets. “Millennium was such a great gathering spot – an institution – in the community,” Alisa Morkides, owner of Brew Ha Ha! said. “We want to fill that void left by its closing while offering our own unique twist on the high-end European coffee experience. At the same time, I am very, very excited to be opening my first store in Philadelphia, a place I’ve called home off and on for over twenty years. “When I founded Brew Ha Ha!, my idea was to combine the quality and style of Italian-style coffee with the intangibles that make customers happy – a warm and relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, and great food. My goal was to create a gathering place where friends could meet up with each other and customers could rediscover a part of our past that had been lost with the onslaught of sanitized, fast-food chains. Brew Ha Ha! was designed as a retreat from over-processed, over-commercialized coffee houses to a more personal environment, much like going into somebody’s home.” Morkides opened her first Brew Ha Ha! in Greenville, Delaware in 1993, which she financed by maxing out her credit cards. Inspired by a near-maniacal love of coffee, she has grown the business to fourteen stores, all located in the Delaware Valley. Along the way, Brew Ha Ha! has been recognized as “Best of Delaware” for 13 years in a row and has won many other awards for its coffee quality. In addition to coffee beverages, Brew Ha Ha! offers an available-all-day food menu consisting of sandwiches, salads, morning pastries, and desserts. Each store also is stocked with magazines and newspapers that encourage customers to relax and linger. Current store hours are Monday – Friday 7AM-8PM and Saturday-Sunday 8AM-8PM; expanded hours are expected in the future. The store also offers free Wi-Fi access.
